Factions & Feuds originated from my distraction and obsession during the Covid-19 lockdown: megagames. Megagames are large-scale simulations that combine elements of role-playing games, tabletop games, and wargames. These games can involve a dozen to several hundred participants, typically divided into teams with shared goals. For a good introduction to megagames, check out Watch the Sky or Den of Wolves.
As the world returned to normal, I became curious about how to simulate interactions between characters and organizations in a more traditional RPG setting with perhaps half a dozen players and a Game Host. How does a character influence a larger group? What impact can an organization have on one of its members? What happens when two people disagree on the direction their organization should take? How do two organizations compete?
Factions & Feuds is my attempt to answer these questions.
